Smeldon Cogwheel Guide

The Red Cogwheel, also known as the Smeldon Cogwheel, is the next tier after the Gold Cogwheel. Typically, Red Cogwheels possess level 10 skill attributes. However, some Red Cogwheels for specific classes do not reach level 10, such as the Wizard's Meteor Area Cogwheel. This skill is usually available at level 1 in Gold Cogwheels, but in a Red tier Cogwheel, it upgrades to level 2. Red Cogwheels can be equipped when a character attains level 55 or above.

Where can I obtain Smeldon Cogwheel?

  1. Unbox from the Mysterious Gear Capsule, purchasable from the RO Shop, or gather five pieces of Dissimilatory Steel from decomposing gold gears to exchange for a random gear egg at the Alienated Metal Shop.

  1. From Festival Event

Smeldon Cogwheel offer an upgrade in skill levels from previous gears. They come in three types: single skill gear, two-star skill gear, and lightweight two-star skill gear. They also introduce new special properties to both Basic Skills and Advanced Skills. Basic Skills are universal skills that receive enhanced properties. For instance,

Name

Effect

Momentum Management Module Lv.10

Increases ASPD by 5% when making a normal attack or using the same skill continuously, stackable up to 5 levels, with an effect duration of 3 seconds

Aftershock Lv.10

Increases CRI by 50 after a normal attack is used on a target 15 times, lasting for 3 continuous seconds. Once the calculation has reached its peak, it will reset and start calculating again

Bloodthirst Lv.10

Increases non-Status Effect DMG by 15% against targets with over 75% HP

Windbreaker ModuleLv.10

Increases movement speed by 3% every 5 seconds upon entering combat mode, lasting for 10 seconds. This can stack up to 3 layers

Omni ChipLv.10 (New!)

Enhances the damage to the next skill used by 15% when executing a normal attack, lasting for 5 seconds (this does not include normal attacks)

  • *New! is a unique feature only in Smeldon Cogwheel

In terms of Advanced Skills, these are represented by Smeldon Cogwheels that have profession-specific skills. These Smeldon Cogwheels can both level up existing skills of a given profession and introduce new skills. Here are some examples:

Jobs

Name

Effect

Sniper

Wind StrikeLv.10

Reduces Sharpshooting skill casting time by 50% and increases skill damage by +30%. When using Sharpshooting skill to attack a target, there is a 50% chance of immobilizing the target.

High Wizard

AutomaticFrost DeviceLv.10

Inflicts an additional 100% of MATK damage to the target every 0.5 seconds when casting the Storm Gust skill

Assassin Cross

Ghost DanceLv.10

Allows the character to use the Grimtooth skill even when not in hiding status. However, if the Grimtooth skill is used while hiding status, the skill can critically hit.

High Priest

Shadowunder the LightLv.10

Has a 15% chance of turning the target's armor into the Undead element when casting the Holy element spell on a target.

The weight of Smeldon Cogwheels

The weight of a typical Smeldon Cogwheel is 7 units, differing from blue, purple, and gold gears that usually weigh 4, 5, and 6 units respectively. Characters can typically carry a maximum of 15 units, allowing us to equip only 2 red gears. However, red gears can be combined for a chance to create a lightweight Smeldon Cogwheel, which weighs 5 units, the same as a lightweight gold gear.

Smeldon Cogwheels maintenance

To renew the Smeldon Cogwheel, you need 5 pieces of the Advance Lubricant item, which can be purchased from the Trade at a price of 20,000 Zeny each. This means we will have to spend 100,000 Zeny for each renewal of the Smeldon Cogwheel.
