A Quick Guide to Playing Monk Introduction

Monk is the advanced job of Acolyte in the advancement path and focuses on physical offensive aspects compared to Priest, who focuses on buffs, support, and magical offensiveness.

In an overview, Monk excels in dealing with single targets and small-scale PvP but may face some challenges in other aspects of the game. This guide is written to accommodate a player who will be investing in the game moderately and you will have to adjust accordingly depending on whether you are playing as a free-to-play (F2P) or a heavy spender.

Getting Started: Acolyte Phase

As a Monk, most of the subsequent jobs' damage output will be physical, so you can start building your Acolyte the same way. Here is the skill distribution for your to-be-Monk Acolyte:

Essential Skills

Blessing (Level 10)

An essential buff for any situation

Increase AGI (Level 5)

It can increase movement speed and is an essential skill for AA (auto-attack) builds.

Demon Bane (Level 10)

Gain passive permanent attack and defense stats, boosted when fighting Demon and Undead monsters. You can freely distribute the remaining 15 points to skills that you may find useful for your adventuring journey at will.

AGI

Being responsible for attacking faster.

STR

Increase most of your offensive skills and AA damage.

The suggested stat distribution would be 2 AGI : 1 STR. Or you may max AGI before you invest in STR to capitalize on the faster attack rate during the course of your character’s Combat Duration and Monster Annihilation grinding.

At the Acolyte stage of the game, you would want to go the AA (auto-attack) route and pump your stats into AGI for faster hits to finish off your targets during grinding.

Your weapon of choice should be a mace.

Unleashing the Power of Your Fist: Monk Phase

Upon reaching at least Base Level 40 and Job Level 40, you can choose to proceed with Monk in your job advancement. At this stage, you can choose to build your Monk in 3 ways, which are:

  1. Speedy and Evasive Auto-Attack

  2. Combo-Based Monk

  3. One-Punch Asura Strike

1. Speedy and Evasive Auto-Attack (Triple Attack Build A)

This build is an extension of the gameplay you've experienced as an Acolyte. Thanks to the blazing speed of your attacks, your Monk will deal a significant increase in DPS with the passively triggered Triple Attack.

Iron Palm (Level 10)

The complimentary weapon for this build is the Malang Crab Claw, which therefore benefits from this passive feature.

Triple Attack (Level 10)

Maximize your trigger chance to deal more damage with your speedy attacks.

Call Spirit (Level 5)

A permanent buff per cast that increases your PATK.

Spiritual Cadence (Level 5)

Get this mainly for the [Ignore PDEF +20%].

Critical Explosion (Level 5)

Use this to increase your CRIT rate at the cost of not being able to regenerate HP/SP naturally.

Flee (Level 4 or 5)

Used to increase your FLEE rate.

[Optional] Body Relocation (Level 1)

A useful skill for jumping in and out of battle as well as an overall useful movement-based skill.

AGI

Being responsible for triggering Triple Attack more often.

STR

Increase most of your offensive skills and AA damage.

[Remaining] LUK

Used to increase the CRIT rate. The suggested stat distribution would be 2 AGI : 1 STR. Or you may max AGI before you invest in STR to capitalize on the faster attack rate during the course of your character's Combat Duration and Monster Annihilation grinding.

At level 50, you would want to craft a Malang Crab Claw to fully bring this build to life.

2. Combo-Based Monk (Triple Attack Build B)

A variation of the Speedy and Evasive Auto-Attack build. This skill focuses mostly on dishing out damage in a specific sequence of skills.

Iron Palm (Level 5 or 10)

Increase your overall damage when paired with the Combo Battle Glove. Max it if you do not intend to utilize Asura Strike as your final combo skill.

The recommended weapon for this build is the Combo Battle Glove.

AGI

Or you may max AGI before you invest in STR to capitalize on the faster attack rate during the course of your character's Combat Duration and Monster Annihilation grinding.

3. One-Punch Asura Strike (Asura Strike Build)

Unlike the Speedy and Evasive Auto-Attack and Combo-Based Monk, the One-Punch Asura Strike focuses on delivering the highest amount of damage possible within a single blow. While the Combo-Based build can add the Asura Strike skill as the final combo, this build is commonly used in PvP-based scenarios or to single-out enemies like bosses.

Iron Palm (Level 10)

A necessary skill to increase your Asura Strike damage as your companion weapon is the Fist.

Call Spirit (Level 5)

An essential skill needed to cast both Critical Explosion and Asura Strike.

Critical Explosion (Level 5)

Asura Strike (Level 5)

Your OHKO skill.

The secondary important stat that determines the overall damage output of Asura Strike.

Any remaining stat can either be invested in VIT for survivability or DEX for faster casting if you do not have the Asura Flash Cogwheel skill.
